Get to know the person behind the lens + her why
About Me
Aloha! I’m Melodey, founder of Melodey.Rose Photography and photographer behind the lens! I’m a 23 year old photographer born and raised in Hawaiʻi on the island of Oahu which is where I’m based!
My photography has grown to document unique love stories through storytelling. To showcase this, I prompt rather than pose my couples + families to better capture the connection between these individuals. Of course we can’t forget the classic poses so there are times where I would pose rather than prompt for those shots!
My love and passion for photography blossomed when I was a sophomore in high school. Along with photography, I learned graphic design and how to write copy. If I’m not shooting, I’m most likely doing homework, at the gym, at a coffee shop, or at home enjoying my favorite Netflix shows!
I’m currently a full-time student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa earning a Bachelor's Degree in Entrepreneurship, but I also obtained an Associates Degree in Physical Education and some background in Nutrition. I’ll possibly share my crazy college journey story if I get the chance to meet ya and indulge in other fun topics to get to know more about you!
My why
I believe we all have a purpose in this world, and for me, that’s capturing memories for people to remember for the rest of their lives. Since I picked up my first camera in 2015, I fell in love with the whole process of creating and finding purpose with the work that I do.
I love feeling inspired by the extravagant and mundane things. I want to capture people’s most precious and intimate moments and shed some light on the love people have for one another and what they’re celebrating. No matter how big or small your event may be, it is worth documenting. Each season in life we go through is worth being photographed.
Capturing moments that you can’t go back in time for, but can look back on with a photograph is one of the most prized possessions to most people.
Most things digitally can get lost or corrupted, but with your photos you are able to print physical copies of them and keep them close to your heart and hold onto them forever. Nothing makes my heart happier than hearing kind words from clients that they were so glad they have keepsakes to share with their family and friends.
